View from the student desk

My 3:00am thought last night about school leadership was about the perceptions through the eyes of the students in the building. I ran across this article when digging a little deeper, The Kid’s-Eye View of Effective Principals.

Notice the date of the article, September, 1987. Pretty amazing to see the themes and critical elements to the students are the same areas that we focus on in our buildings today, high visibility, meeting the needs for safety and order, meeting students social needs and meeting the needs of personal through academic guidance.

Its powerful to know that the ultimate ones impacted, students, view principals having such an important roll in leadership . On the flip side, when a leader is ineffective, students certainly cue into those signs quickly.
