Teaching Innovation

Teaching in the slums doesn’t seem like a bad idea. Wouldn’t it be nice to create such an intrinsically motivated environment that has total purpose for students? Our autonomy as teachers have been stripped in many ways and we are driven to create the data that is necessary to prove ourselves as “satisfactory”. Even then, we are either satisfactory or not, there are not many other levels to achieve for extrinsic purposes. Good thing it’s our intrinsic motivations that drive us!

The most exciting time in my classroom are the genius hours and the project based learning. It’s also the time when the students are motivated the most. As mentioned in Drive, it has often been the most productive time of major businesses so it must work! Maybe we are getting away from uniforming our children, well at least it’s being discussed. That’s a step in the right direction. This link is worth watching!
